What to check for Semiconductors
Power modules are assemblies rather than single components, containing solders, ceramic substrates, encapsulants and sometimes thermal interface material. Exemption 7a for high melting point solder is normal here, and what matters is the review date attached to it rather than the compliance claim. Ask whether the declaration covers the module as delivered, including the encapsulant.
What a usable RoHS declaration contains
- The part number and package variant covered.
- The issue date of the document.
- The directive revision, including the 2015/863 phthalate amendment.
- Every exemption claimed, by its number.
- A named signatory.
