What to check in this category
If you buy a finished cable assembly rather than loose terminals, the wire is part of the article and PVC insulation brings phthalates into scope. DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP have been RoHS restricted since Directive 2015/863 at 0.1% by weight. A declaration covering the connector but not the wire leaves the restricted substance uncovered.
What a usable declaration contains
- The exact part number or article range covered.
- The issue date of the document.
- The regulation revision referenced.
- Any exemptions claimed, by number.
- SVHC content stated against the 0.1% by weight threshold.
- A named signatory.
