What to check for Passive components
Quartz crystals in ceramic or metal packages are sealed, and glass frit sealing materials have historically contained lead, covered by a specific RoHS exemption for lead in glass. A crystal declaring lead content is therefore not automatically non compliant, but the exemption has to be named for the claim to hold.
What a usable RoHS declaration contains
- The part number and package variant covered.
- The issue date of the document.
- The directive revision, including the 2015/863 phthalate amendment.
- Every exemption claimed, by its number.
- A named signatory.
